In the November Associates day some of us made a 12 month commitment to focus on up to 3 UE values. 4 months gone and I was wondering how people are doing and if there is any inspiration out there? The first one that I have been focussing on is to know we are not indespensable. I guess the first thing I have done is give myself permission to say 'no'!
It is a hard thing to do though when you have set your life up to answer everyone's call. Switching off the phone, not always answering the door and saying to be people that I will see them another day rather than right now has been a major shift for me. The good news is that people are not collapsing around me because of this. I guess I have had to learn that God has given me people to pray for and to love and serve, but He has not made me their keeper. They are responsible for themselves and only God is indespensable. Easy to say - harder to live out!
Has anyone else got this value as their focus and how are they getting on?
